Shining Rivers School Announces Grand Opening in Webster Groves

Webster Groves, MO – July 12-- Shining Rivers, a developing Waldorf school, announces its Grand Opening August 13 in its new location at 915 N. Elm Avenue in Webster Groves. Shining Rivers is in its 12th year in the St. Louis area.

The event marks the consolidation of two separate campuses, and an expansion of early childhood offerings. The early childhood programs and the elementary school programs will be housed back-to back, and connected by a newly landscaped garden path.

“Waldorf is prevalent on the coasts and internationally. The new, central location allows us to bring Waldorf education to more families in the St. Louis metro area,” said Heyden Hucke, board president. In 2004, XX families moved into the St. Louis/In our increasingly mobile society, families familiar with Waldorf are migrating from the coasts to the Midwest. Certainly, several of our families originally came from the coasts, seeking a Waldorf school in St. Louis.”

“With our emphasis on creating a healthy, balanced environment for young children, our program highlights gardening and other outdoor nature activities. This location allows us to offer these activities for children as young as preschool,” said Bryan Wessling, one of Shining Rivers’ founding teachers.

Waldorf has become the largest, independent, non-faith-based education movement in the world, with over 800 schools and an additional 600 nursery schools/kindergartens in 35 countries. Shining Rivers is Missouri’s only Waldorf School. Developing a genuine inner enthusiasm for learning is the hallmark of Waldorf education. Shining Rivers offers Pre-K through 3rd grade.
