Our Past
In 1992, the school opened its doors in Creve Coeur, MO as a
three day kindergarten serving twelve students.
The following year began six years of residence in rented facilities
at First Congregational Church in Webster Groves. During that
time multiple early childhood programs and parent education were
added to the offerings, serving up to forty families.
A further move, in1999, to St. Louis’ Central West End brought
the addition of the grades in rental rooms in historic St. Johns
Methodist.
Today, while serving fifty families, SRS is back in Webster Groves,
but in facilities of its own; all programs are housed in a park-like
campus with six teaching staff and an office/business manager, Maureen
Marklin. |

Our Future Vision
The future of Waldorf education in St. Louis looks
brighter than ever. With the opportunity to develop a campus in
Webster Groves, Shining Rivers looks forward to increasing its early
childhood offerings and building sustainable classes in the elementary
grades. We hope to add one grade each year until we reach the full
complement of eight grades.
In our new setting, we have the opportunity to work with the larger
community to create an environment that embraces the beauty of nature
and cultivates respect for it, as the Waldorf curriculum entails.
Our long term goals include exceptional buildings that incorporate
the best aspects of green architecture. |
